The film is based on the comic strip Kötu Kedi Şerafettin by Bülent Üstün. This is an independent movie and this work was self-funded, with some of the budget raised through product placements. It was featured and became the first animated Turkish film and the first comic’s adaptation from Turkey to be shown at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in 2016. After the film’s television premiere took place on 1 July 2017 in Turkey, the Radio and Television Supreme Council was fined the Kanal D television channel for airing this adult animation, which has a cat character who is a smoker and an alcoholic.
Produced by Turkey’s biggest animation studio, Anima Istanbul, The Bad Cat is an animated epic for young adults featuring the unforgettably bad cat, Shero and his foul mouthed gang in action. As animals inhabiting streets Shero and his friends are after what anyone else in their notoriously sleazy Istanbul neighborhood wants: debauchery with girls, food and the occasional drinking binge.
-Without any doubt this is the best quality animation movie mad in Turkey !!! What happens in one scene does not match or continue in the second scene !!! -It seems like they just put bunch of sketch together to make a movie !!! -The choice of the voice actors is absolutely wrong (none of the voices match the characters, specially Serafettin’s voice is extremely annoying) !!! -However as I mentioned the animation quality is absolutely wonderful (for made in Turkey) !!!
