Just as Tessa makes the biggest decision of her life, everything changes. Revelations about her family, and then Hardin’s, throw everything they knew before in doubt and makes their hard-won future together more difficult to claim.
Tessa and Hardin do not speak for several days; Hardin finds Tessa’s journal, wherein she describes all the pain caused by her relationship with Hardin. Eventually, the two reconcile, and Hardin takes up boxing as a way of resolving his anger issues. Vance and Kimberly tell Tessa that they are expecting a child. When Hardin has a nightmare of Tessa being unfaithful to him, he surprises Tessa in Seattle, admits to reading her journal, and apologizes for causing her pain. After spending some time together in Seattle, Hardin returns home, where he finds Richard in his apartment, brutally beaten. Richard explains that he had been attacked by men to whom he owed money; Hardin offers Richard a watch to pay off the debt. When Tessa visits her gynecologist to start birth control, she is informed that, because of an issue with her cervix, she may never conceive. Hardin tells Tessa he plans on moving to Seattle in two months.
Hardin eventually agrees to attend his mother’s wedding in London, taking Tessa along and showing her his hometown. The night before the wedding, Hardin catches Trish and Vance having sex, causing an altercation between the three. Trish and her her fiancé get married the next day. Tessa sits with Kimberley, where Kimberley admits she knows of Vance’s infidelity, but that she loves him and can’t stay angry with him. Hardin discusses the previous night’s events with Vance at a local bar. Kimberly tells Tessa, and Vance tells Hardin, that Vance is Hardin’s real father. The news shocks Tessa and infuriates Hardin, who storms out of the bar. Tessa searches for Hardin and finds him. They embrace passionately in the street.
The terrible construction continues with the familiar cycle of stupid jealousies and tedious sex, instead of at least attempting to create a new interest. It was plainly obvious to everyone that After We Fell was going to be an utter disaster, mainly expected after its previous messes, After We Collided and After. However, it’s extremely boring this time.
How are there fans to this pathetically dramatic romance? The first two films were arguments and sex; After We Fell seems to decrease the amount of arguments, but focuses too heavily on… pretty much nothing. It’s very slow-burning and seriously seems to have to point or target. The dialogue is also just as terrible.
After We Fell also takes a brief and very small look on extremely unfair jealousy between the lead lovers, Tessa and Hardin. And the character development is an utter nightmare to real romances. This also contributes to making the entire plot very difficult to concentrate on. But now after the third instalment to a moveless and hopeless couple, who in the world actually would want to anticipate the next predictably-foolish chapter?
